Dr. James E. Spruill, is an administrator with over 18 years as Superintendent, Principal/Assistant Principal, IT Consultant/Educational Technology trainer, and Technology Director/Instructor. He served two years as a Regional Coordinator for the TRIG Classroom Readiness program building the capacity over one hundred educators to integrate educational technology to prepare students for the MSTEP assessment. Dr Spruill served on the Michigan Department of Education’s (MDE) educational technology plan committee which wrote the MI Roadmap: Transforming Education Through Technology 2017 – 2021 where Dr. Spruill co-authored the Teaching and Learning sections. He also served as a member of MDE’s Michigan Technology Readiness Infrastructure Grant (TRIG) Advisory Council; MDE’s MTRAX Instructional Measures workgroup (which identified middle school educational technology skills), MDE’s Tech Planning workgroup (which created the process to incorporate the educational technology plan into the school improvement planning process), and as a VIP Observer at the Future Ready Schools Summit in Pittsburgh, PA. Dr. Spruill has presented at MACUL 2015, the North Carolina Alliance for Charter Schools’ Annual Conference (2013); Michigan Association of Public School Academies’ (MAPSA) Annual Conference (2012 & 2005); and the Society for Applied Learning Technology’s Interactive Technologies Conference (2006). He is a licensed Restorative Practices trainer. Dr. Spruill is a proud veteran of the United States Army.
